19/20 Open Enrollment for Health Plans

Open Enrollment begins on July 1st and ends on July 12, 2019. This is the time of year when you can make changes to your health coverage which are effective August 1, 2019. Only those of you who want to enroll, cancel, add or delete dependents, switch plans or make any other changes to your current medical, dental and/or vision coverage need to take action during Open Enrollment. Otherwise, your current elections will remain in place through 7/31/20.

WHAT’S NEW

Recognizing that pharmacy costs continue to skyrocket, accounting for more than 20% of total health care costs with specialty drugs alone contributing more than 44% to overall drug costs, we have implemented the following two changes:

  • The in-network pharmacy benefit on the POS medical plan has added a 4th tier for specialty drugs (20% of cost up to a maximum of $150).

  • Choose Generics Program with Dispense as Written (DAW) has been added to all medical plans to encourage the use of generics instead of brand name drugs when applicable.

Aetna has made three mandatory plan changes:

  • The mail-order prescription drug maximum on the Basic PPO medical plan (the most that prescription will cost) has been reduced to $250 from $500.

  • The out-of-network reimbursement on the POS plan will move to 105% from 180% of Medicare (professional) and 140% from 225% of Medicare (facility).

  • Home health care on the HMO plan will increase to a $50 specialist copay from no copay.

WHAT’S NOT NEW

  • Aetna will continue to be our medical, dental and life insurance vendor and VSP will continue to be our vision vendor.

  • Despite an increase in Aetna's premiums, for the fifth year in a row, your costs for coverage will stay the same through 7/31/20.

HOW TO ENROLL

Step 1: Complete the Open Enrollment Form by July 12, 2019.

Step 2: Submit the form to Benefits per one of the 3 options indicated below:
